FAQ
Questions We Hear Most Often
Your First Session.
Prior to the first official session, Mishawn will consult with the parent[s] and teen indivudally. This ensures a clear understanding of goals while determining the most appropriate interventions.
Therapy Modality.
We may explore trauma-informed therapy, cognitive therapy, and mind–body interventions. Therapy sessions may also combine talk therapy, somatic awareness, and nervous system regulation techniques that help guide you to a safe baseline, understand safety, and reconnect with your self on your terms.
Your first session starts with a conversation.
We talk about your history, goals, and comfort level at your own pace. Interventions are collaborative. No rushing. No expectations. No judgment.
You can heal from anywhere.
In addition to in-person therapy, session types are also available virtually via Zoom. Virtual sessions are fully trauma-informed and just as personal as in-studio sessions. Your home is a valid healing space.
Timing + Sequence.
The first five sessions will work toward building a rapport with your teen. There will be parent touchpoints throughout treatment. Once your teen and Mishawn are comfortable with integrating family sessions, a collaborative conversation will take place. Recommended cadence: Teen only therapy: Weekly with potential bi-weekly sessions late in treatment. Family therapy: Bi-weekly.
